Library News
Hello all,
Thought I’d pass on a few things which are happening in the local and wider community that may be of interest…
- If you enjoy writing, you might like to check out the Alexander Turnbull Library Smart Alec 2022 Creative Writing Competition. The competition is open to all students in New Zealand and there are two categories - Years 9-10 and Years 11-13. There is over $3000 in prize money to be won, and entries don't close until 28 August, so you still have a little time. Entries need to be inspired by items in the Turnbull collection. Find out all the details at:https://turnbullfriends.org.nz/schools-competition/smart-alex-competition-details/
- Did you know Redwood Library (which is just down the road from St Bede’s) holds a Dungeon Delvers club on Wednesday afternoons, 3.30-5 pm? It’s for 10-14 year olds and its free – you just need to book in with Christchurch City Libraries to attend. They use the Dungeons and Dragons starter kit, and have lots of dice available. - Chris Long, New Zealand adventurer and author of The Boy From Gorge River, will be talking about his book and his life at a free event held by Christchurch City Libraries.
