Year 10 Cultural Studies Trip

George Berry —

Our Year 10 Cultural Studies class had the privilege of visiting two Pa sites last week, the Oruaka Pa at Birdling's Flat and Onawe at the Duvauchelle Peninsula.

  • Accompanied by Ms Cron, Ms Days, and Kare Komene from the Boarding House, the class had an amazing time making connections and enjoying the beautiful Banks Peninsula area. The class also went to Akaroa and walked through the forest of Tana where the boys saw Tui, Kereru and Piwakawaka.

Lunch was provided by 'Murphy's on the Corner,' and we enjoyed fish and chips while playing Rugby and swimming at the beach before driving home. It was a fantastic way to end the week, and they all have an excuse to go back next year. Unfortunately the group couldn’t walk onto Onawe Pa site as the tide was too high to get across.

Thanks again to everyone who made this happen, especially Ms Days who continues to grow the Cultural pillar of our College, helping the boys connect with their heritage.
