From the Rector
We come to the end of a short but very busy week. This week I finished the interviews for the 2023 Year 9 cohort and tonight, we have the Leavers’ Ball, an event embedded in tradition in the College, but which like many was disrupted last year due to Covid. Next week, we hold our Senior Prizegiving on Thursday Night, followed by the Leavers’ Breakfast and Leavers’ Mass on Friday morning, again back in the traditional way we are used to celebrating. We welcome anyone who would like to attend this Mass, which is at 11.00am. For our Junior school, we are of course only at the beginning of their Term Four. Yesterday, we had a presentation from a group called Attitude, who spoke to our Year 9s and 10s about Social Media. The sessions weren’t about the negatives of Social Media, but more about how to be a positive user of Social media, the importance of quality connections over quantity, digital footprint and thinking before you post, bullying and trolling and how to not only recognize it, but to deal with it safely and finally the integrity of character online. It is important that we teach our young men the rights and wrongs of Social Media, as this is such a part of everyday life for them and for us. Until next week. JG Boyle
