Subject Peer Tutoring Begins

Callum Wilson —

Peer Tutoring is commencing next week for the year.

This initiative has been happening for some years now at St Bede’s. It involves Y11-13 students volunteering their experience, skills, and time to support with their fellow students learning. We are very fortunate that this year 33 students have offered to give their peers academic support. We normally see students seeking support with specific subjects e.g., Y10 Maths, but students can seek assistance for technical advice in using their computers effectively, or even social advice on interacting with classmates. Once booked tutors will contact the student via school email and will make a time and place to meet. At the first meeting both men will assess the level of need – it might be one session covers it for the student, or they might agree to meet every second week, or any combination of instances specific to the students need. Either way, after this first meeting a relationship is started, contacts numbers exchanged, and that tutor is only ever a message away if a need should arise again.

Any student from Y9-Y13 can get assistance from a tutor of their choice by using this booking form. Please note that a tutor can only have one booking per slot. If no tutors are available, please use the Waiting List at the bottom of the document. Please see the image below for demonstration on how to write in a booking for fictional student Jim James to get assistance with maths.
