Senior Art Students visit SHIFT: Urban Art Takeover.

Ashleigh Mowbray —

Recently a group of Senior Art students, Mrs King and Ms Skerton were lucky enough to be shown around Canterbury Museums current art exhibition - SHIFT: Urban Art Takeover.

As the Museum's five floors have been cleared to prepare for major renovation, SHIFT has allowed street artists from Aotearoa and overseas to transform from the basement all the way up to the galleries of the Canterbury Museum into a celebration of Urban Art.

We are hugely grateful SBC Old Boy, James Norton, for his time and expertise as we wandered through the gallery admiring the incredible artwork which sprawled across the walls and in some cases the ceiling. It was wonderful to explore how street artists use their works to express their culture and identity or to comment on social issues.

Thanks also to Nathan Hoare for his stunning photos of the exhibition.
