Immerse Education Essay Competition: Win a full scholarship to the Immerse Summer School in Oxford, Cambridge, London or online!

The Immerse Education Essay Competition offers students the opportunity to win a 100% scholarship for one of Immerse Education’s award-winning residential or online academic programs (further information below). In the last round of the Essay competition, there were 10 full scholarship winners and 300 shortlisted partial scholarship winners selected from over 4000 entries.

Students aged 13-18 are required to submit essay responses to a pre-set question relating to their chosen subject and age group. From Medicine, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Creative Writing, English Literature, and many more subjects, there is a category for every area of interest. The competition is a great way to practice your academic writing skills and previous scholarship winners have referenced their success in the Essay Competition on their university application to the world’s top universities. Many of our courses at Ara do not have a specified closing date, so we always encourage students to apply early. For the programs below, completed applications need to be submitted before the following dates.

Student Loans

Study link knows the last couple of months have been tough, but to support students returning to study in 2022, they are again encouraging these students to apply by 16  December for their 2022 student allowance or loan. This means there will be enough time to get everything processed before they begin their course. Students who apply early will be encouraged to supply all their supporting documents by 16 December as well. Those who do will go in the draw to win a 13″ MacBook to help with their studies!

Volunteering Opportunity

Organisation: Dementia Canterbury

Location: various around Christchurch and Wider Canterbury region

Role: Annual Appeal Collecting

Dates: Friday 19 November and Saturday 20 November

Times: Flexible – find a shift/day that suits your schedule

Working as a group, you will be contributing to Dementia Canterbury’s annual appeal which is one of the most important fundraisers in their calendar. If you have a group, one person will be the Team Leader overseeing the smooth running of the day, picking up collection buckets at the beginning of the day and returning at the end of the day. The rest of your group will be allocated two-hour timeslots, in pairs, to engage with the public and collect. Dementia Canterbury team will be supporting you! A typical day would be 10am to 5pm … get a group together and make a difference in your community.

Brand new phone!
Summer sorted!

We are looking for Year 13 students to work as Santa's Trusted Advisors in our Vodafone stores over the summer period from late November to early January. They will greet customers, help them select phones and keep the store looking sparkly!

Students will earn $20 per hour and receive a phone of their choice to the value of $500 if they work a minimum of 9 days.

Students will be required to work a variety of shifts. There is also potential for them to apply for ongoing part time work post Xmas if they want to.
