Mr Jon McDowall —

Junior Exams and End of Year Reports.

Dear Parents and Whanau

As we look to refine our systems in order to best meet the needs of our students and their whanau the College has decided to make some changes in relation to junior exams and reports.

Junior Exams

These will now be held on Wednesday 15 and Thursday, 16  November instead of 9 and 10 November. This will allow further preparation time for both teachers and students.

Junior end of year reports

Instead of receiving a written report containing grades and teacher comments the last week of term we are inviting all parents to attend short conferences with their son and his teachers on Friday, 1 December. These will run from 8:30am and 4:00pm and will be held in the gymnasium. You will still receive an end of year academic transcript outlining assessments as well as application and effort indicators. Conferencing is an opportunity for students, teachers and their parents to discuss the years progress, as well as an opportunity to look ahead and plan for next year. Key staff – Heads of Faculty, careers advisors, learning support and gifted education staff will also be present for parents and students who wish to discuss particular aspects of their learning pathway. This includes any changes to options for 2018.

The booking format for the conferences will be the same as school Parent Teacher evenings. You will receive an email as to when the portal is open for bookings.

We hope to see as many parents and their sons as possible.

Regards

Jon McDowall
