Curriculum update

Mrs Nola Kilpatrick —

This week's update contains information regarding the NCEA exams (derived grades) and the junior prize-giving.

NCEA exams

The disruption caused by the Monday morning earthquake to our NCEA examination students has been minimised by our ability to apply for Emergency Derived Grades for students whose preparation for the examinations has been affected.

Students have been advised that they do not need to apply individually for these grades for the Monday and Tuesday examination sessions as the College does this on their behalf. It must be stressed, however, that we must hold standard specific evidence of achievement in order to apply for a Derived Grade.

Students are awarded the best of the Derived Grade (at St Bede’s this comes from their school exam) or the NCEA exam result. Students in isolated areas are also covered. For ongoing issues, trauma, misfortune or medical, students need to make individual Derived Grades applications in the usual process and see Mrs Kilpatrick for the application form.

Junior Prizegiving

A warm invitation is extended to all parents of Year 9 & 10 students to join us for our junior prize-giving on Thursday, 8 December at 11.00am in the gym. The school year concludes for students following this event.
