Bishop Lyons’ Shield

Last weekend the Bishop Lyons team travelled to Greymouth to compete. The Bishop Lyons’ Shield competition has been running for 74 years and sees the seven Catholic Colleges of the Christchurch Diocese compete in various speech events.

The St Bede’s team and their events were:

Connor Grey - Impromptu Speech, placed 2nd.

Liam Speechlay, Thomas Richards and Hunter Heath- Debating, placed 2nd.

Samuel Thornley- Junior Prepared Speech, placed 2nd.

Simon Curnow- Senior Prepared Speech, placed 3rd equal.

Lorenzo Noa Siaosi- Scripture Reading, placed 1st equal.

Francis Mones-Cazon, Samuel Leitch, Alex Milnes, not placed.

Overall the team finished 2nd with St Thomas of Canterbury College winning the Bishop Lyons’ Shield.
