Justin Boyle —

Chris Mene from the Board of Proprietors, Erin Kreft, and Rebecca Methven joined our DRS, Grant Ven and myself at a hui in Wellington that marked the launch of a book about the founder of the Society of Mary, written by Fr Justin Taylor SM. entitled “A short Life of Jean Claude Colin, Marist Founder”. The hui was attended by various branches of the Marist community, those involved in the Marist holdings at Greenmeadows, those in administration in Wellington, those in health care, and special projects, as well as representatives from the Senate and the three schools, St Pat’s Town, St Pat’s Silverstream and St Bede’s.

The story of all that was achieved by Fr Colin and his society, was guided by a simple, profound and accessible spirituality which looked to Mary as their guide on how to serve in the turbulent post French Revolution years when the Society was inspired. Fr Taylor is an outstanding scholar, and this book has been published in several languages, and is available on request from the school.

FR Brian Cummings RIP

Representatives from the College attended the funeral of Fr Brian Cummings last month, who died after a period of ill health. A Month’s Mind Mass in his memory, will be celebrated by the Provincial of the Society of Mary, Fr Tim Duckworth, in the College Chapel this Tuesday at 7pm, to which you are all invited.

The Centre of Wellbeing has launched an on-line system that will add to the variety of ways students can book in for an appointment. Students have been asked to download the Acuity Scheduling client App onto their phones and will be able to find the QR codes for this all around the school buildings. There is no pressure for students to book an appointment, but if they ever feel they need to, it will be easy for them to do this.

Until next week
