Talent impresses in Twelve
On 20 June, the Year 11 Drama class presented Twelve by Duncan Sarkies. This was directed by Sean Millar (Year 13) and produced by Ms Days.
Twelve follows the story of Ed, a 12-year-old boy living in Dunedin in the 1980s, and addresses pre-teen issues that are still relevant today - best mates, first crushes, favourite singers, sports, and family relationships.
The structure of the play meant that all the actors were on stage all the time and had to play a variety of characters to represent different parts of Ed's life. This requires a high level of commitment to the rehearsal process and to maintaining their character on stage. The boys showed real determination in doing this.
As a class, being part of this production was a unifying and valuable experience. They all enjoyed being part of the team and the excitement of adding an audience to the performance.
Overall, a very successful production, and they are looking forward to doing another play next year.
