Year 12 Band prepping for a debut performance at Rockquest Regionals

George Berry —

We have a handful of bands from St Bede's College taking part in this year's Smokefree Rockquest Canterbury Regionals on Saturday May 18 at the Aurora Centre. One in particular getting ready to show their original piece live for the first time is a five piece band made up of Year 12 students.

Jake Wright (lead vocals), Matt Boyle (rhythm guitar and vocals), Lachie Williams (lead guitar), Ethan Seed (bass guitar), and Sam Turner (drums) have been together since the start of the school year and have been practicing non-stop in the hopes of impressing the Rockquest judges and making it through to the finals next month at The Foundry.

Vocalist and guitarist Matt Boyle's loving the creative experience of creating a song from scratch with the rest of the boys...

"Playing music with the 4 others has been sick! It's been awesome writing a full original and another one coming along as we speak! It's real cool to be playing with a bunch of seriously talented musicians all with more than 1 instrument, I'm seriously humbled to be part of the band. We are looking to go through regionals and take every opportunity we can. We'll take it one step at a time from here!

If you're wanting to head along to watch our bands in action at the Aurora Centre, be sure to read next weeks newsletter where we'll have the times up for each act.
