Kia ora whānau

Jon McDowall —

I trust this finds you and your whānau well.

In keeping with previous newsletters, I wish to share some of the excellent learning occurring in the junior school.

The Year 10 Audio Production class have been learning how to operate DJ decks and recording software. Some are recording live instruments and then mixing the tracks, and others are creating digital Music on Studio One. It is great to see our students having and enjoying the opportunity to learn more about Music Technology, it has proven to be a very popular option at both Year 9 and 10.

We like the rest of the world continue to learn more about the long-term effects of Covid-19 on young people post infection. Overseas research highlights increased risks of long Covid should those recovering from Covid-19 engage in physical activity too soon.

Any student who has tested positive for Covid-19 in 2022 needs to consider the potential long-term health risks of undertaking exercise, especially strenuous exercise, too soon after a positive test, even if they are symptom free. We have published some guidance regarding this through our sports clubs as well as this newsletter.

The recent changes announced by the Government have some implications for our school, these are outlined further in the newsletter.

Our Lenten food drive continues in the spirit of almsgiving or Love of Neighbour. We encourage all boys to bring cans, nonperishable food items or toiletries in to help families in need. Items will be collected by St Vincent de Paul during Holy Week.

All the best to our rowing community as they compete at the Maadi Cup regatta next week.

Thank you once again for your support of the College.
