Variety of acts on display at concert

Elian Pagalilawan —

The Arts Faculty's Variety Concert wowed the crowd with the range of talent on show.

On 13 June, the Arts Faculty proudly presented its Term 2 Variety Concert. Hosted by our senior students, we had a wonderful night of art and music. Students performed a range of music from Stevie Wonder to movie theme songs, Journey, and more.

The Jazz Band started the night off with Blue Train by John Coltrane and Stevie Wonder's Signed Sealed Delivered, followed by Marik Ancheta playing Le Festin from the movie Ratatouille. Bede’s on Strings then played two beautiful pieces, De’il among the Tailors and Staten Island Reels. Brody Fraser and William Forrester gave us a powerful rendition of Your Song and, ending the first act, our two rock bands The Hazy’s and 50 Toes performed their own original songs.

Kicking off the second act was the Junior Choir followed by The Bedean Choir. Both gave us a range of music from Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing to David N Child’s The Lord’s Prayer. Brothers Matthew and Michael Chinula then performed Someone You Loved, and Liam Hulme serenaded us with Besame Mucho on the piano afterwards. Heinrich Muller and Lorenzo Nia Siaosi then performed alongside Simon Curnow, Lovely. Of course, the evening ended with the iconic Country Roads with everyone singing along.

We would love to thank all the students and teachers involved with this concert as well as everyone who came along. We look forward to doing it all again on Wednesday, 13 September.
