FMG Young Farmer of the Year
We have another regional finalist!
On 15 April Peter O'Connor (2012-2016) took out the Aorangi regional competition for FMG Young Farmer of the Year and now joins his brother Nick O'Connor (2016-2020), who won the Tasman regional final, and Mac Williams (2016-2020), who won Taranaki-Manawatu, in the Young Farmer of the Year Grand Final.
Only 7 people from throughout the country make it to Grand Final each year and this year 3 of those 7 will be St Bede's old boys! This year's three-day competition is happening in Timaru on 6-8 July.
The St Bede's Junior Young Farmer team of Michael Blunt (Y13) and Zander McCloy (Y13) have also qualified for their grand final and will be competing down in Timaru too.
Previous old boys winners of the Young Farmer of the Year competition include:
1978 - Stephen Ryan (1963-1967) from Tai Tapu
2009 - Tim O’Sullivan (1993-1997) from Fairlie
Congratulations and all the best of luck to Nick, Mac, Peter, Michael, and Zander. What an occasion the finals will be!!
