School Exams and Candidate National Student Number (NSN) cards

Preparing for Senior School exams Week 5 Term 2 (August 21-25)

At the Yr 11 assembly yesterday I took the opportunity to speak to our year 11 cohort about exams. This group face their first three hour run of senior examinations next term and they need to prepare for them. Like a sports' match, they cannot expect to run on the field, or court or pitch and perform well if they have not attended practice or worked independently on their levels of fitness. Practice and training are the equivalent of study. Both aid the learning. The sooner students begin their study for exams, the better prepared they will be. These exams are important. They are a practice for the NCEA exams, the results are used to identify prize-winners for our annual Academic Prizegiving and results will be recorded on the end of year report. Students also need to be aware that decisions about subject choice for next year may be made based on their exam performance

Candidate National Student Number (NSN) cards

Senior Students received their NSN (National Student Number) cards at Tutor Time this week. NZQA issues this small card for all students entered in NCEA. Each card includes the student’s personal details, their NSN number and explains how a student should register on the web to access their data through the NZQA learner Login. Students need to register in order to receive their results on line and request leaving documents. Students must also notify the College if the address on this card is incorrect as this is the address NZQA will return NCEA exam papers to in January.
