A wrap up of Term 3 in the Arts Faculty

Mr George Berry —

Despite some COVID setbacks, it's been a jam-packed third term in the Arts, with various events, competitions and projects taking place.

We began the term with our Rockquest entries being sent in from our three Year 13 bands (Main Street, Lifetime Guarantee, Garage Couches) and Tai Nobnorb performing his original 'Colours.' We were extremely proud of all our students sending through their original songs, and they all received some fantastic feedback from the judges.

To watch these entries, head to our YouTube Channel- youtube.com/channel/UCS7_5I3mt3ARJwN1yA5A09Q/videos

Also there you'll find our 'Careers in Creative Arts' video series, featuring recent old boys studying or working within the creative industry.

We then had students going to various events and representing the College with pride. Our Theatresports team took part in the regional competition and our Junior and Senior Choir performed at Singfest at the Grand Hall.- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67kZTfTSJSo

After various postponements, we finally staged the Variety Concert last week, opting to live-stream the event while we were still under Level 2 restrictions. We have over 1,600 views of the concert, and we were delighted to see students back on stage doing what they love. In case you missed the stream, you can watch it here- https://www.facebook.com/stbedesarts/videos/675113663125277

Like the rest of the country, we embraced Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori, learning more behind 'Whanaungatanga' and even practicing how to order coffee in Te Reo!

Amongst everything, we of course had our senior students completing various internals, as well as our junior students becoming familiar with our music software and instruments!

We look forward to what's ahead in Term 4, and may even be able to squeeze in another Variety Concert! Watch this space...
