Senior Leadership Team —

With NCEA exams finally underway and Teacher Only Days Thursday and Friday, it has again been a rather quiet campus this week. We wish all senior students currently sitting exams the best of luck and keep them in our prayers. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our volunteers who attend and sit in the exams with the boys. Without your help, these exams would certainly not run as smoothly as they do.

On Wednesday night, we were able to celebrate our Year 9 and 10 Boys receiving their Sacraments, in the Sacramental Mass. This had been delayed due to Covid, and we were very pleased that it could now go ahead. Please see names and photos further in the newsletter in regards to this occasion.

The staff were supplied with morning tea by the Board of Trustees today, as a thank you for the work once again that has been done during another disruptive year. In his thank you, Rob de Roo, Board Chair spoke about the impact that Covid and the lockdowns have had on people. He also spoke about the mental health of our young people, especially in Canterbury. That here at St Bede’s, rather than being followers, we are leaders in understanding how important mental health is in our students. That we have implemented processes such as Mana Tane groups and the Centre of Wellbeing and that through this, we are setting our young men up to understand themselves how important mental health is, not only in school, but in the years beyond.

Until next week,
