Greetings from St Bede's

Mr Justin Boyle —

We finished the week with a ceremony presenting the Year 13 with their ties.

We were not only challenging the Year 13 boys to be the tone-setters of the College this year, but challenged them to begin to look at what they might do in 12 months’ time.

So invited to take part were four old boys from different eras, to share with the Year 13s their life stories and give some sage advice for their final year at school.

Mark Galletly (1988 – 1992), Philip Shaw Rowlands (2010 – 2013), Michael Stewart (2005 – 2007) and Fr Allan Jones (1961 – 1966) recounted their times at St Bede’s, and what has happened in their lives since.

Building, army, law and rugby, and the priesthood, so the boys were exposed to a wide range of life stories to listen to. All gave similar advice, a common theme being to take the “leap of faith” to work hard, and also their links to their classmates at St Bede’s and fellow Bedeans.

The Year 9 induction continued this week and senior and junior swimming sports were also held. It’s been a busy week!

Until next week

Justin Boyle
