Pink Shirt Mufti Day

When: Friday 20 May

Wear: Students are encouraged to wear something pink

Next week is Bully Free NZ Week and follows the theme He kōtuinga mahi iti, he hua pai-ā rau: Small ripples create big waves. The week will culminate with the nationwide Pink Shirt Day which is supported by the Mental Health Foundation. This initiative promotes good mental health and wellbeing, anti-bullying and diversity.

On Friday 20 May there is a full mufti day where students are encouraged to wear something pink and bring a gold coin donation. Gold coin donations directly support the Mental Health Foundation and Pink Shirt Day Kaupapa, allowing them to continue to provide bullying prevention resources that create more inclusive schools and environments. Donations will be collected at the beginning of Mana Tāne on Friday.

The Student Wellbeing Committee and Prefect team are running games at lunchtime andwillbe launching ‘Fried Chicken Friday’, an event that we propose to use once a month. All proceeds from chicken sales will go directly towards the wellbeing and mental health of St Bede’s students.

Throughout the week the Wellbeing Committee and Prefect Team will be highlighting the Centre of Wellbeing Anti-Bullying Messaging /Text Service.

Students can text to make an appointment with the CoW team or report bullying.

  • Students need to give their name if they would like a member of the Centre of Wellbeing Team to get in touch about an appointment.
  • Students would need to supply the name of the person they believe could be being bullied/getting a hard time. This information would be passed to their Head of Year who will assist.

Educating the students around the use of this number/service is important and ongoing. Please encourage your son to enter the number into their phone, they may not need it now but may during their time at the College.
