CRICKET

First XI

Congratulations to the 1st XI who made a clean swept of their traditional games for the second year in a row. Earlier this week they secured a win over St Pat’s town. St Pat’s batted first and were all out for 159, St Bede’s replied with 311 (with Matt Boyle scoring 172 and Elliot Caddick 51). Second day St Pats scored 241 all out with Elliot taking 5 wickets, St Bede’s needed 90 to win which was achieved with 4 down and Lachie Busch scoring 49.

NZCT Final

Congratulations to the Colts Cricket team that had a great win over Christchurch Boys’ High School at the Main Power Oval on Thursday. The Colts batted first and made 157 runs with Harry Croy scoring 50. Boys High were bowled out for 115 with Ben Trillo taking 3 wickets.

The win qualifies the team to compete at the Nationals.

Cricket Club Annual General Meeting 

This will be held on Monday 9 March at 7.00pm in the staffroom. If your son plays cricket we encourage you to attend.

TOUCH

Canterbury Touch Championships

Congratulations to the Super Touch team who won the Canterbury Champs last weekend. They lost to BHS in the rounds by 2 to 4 and ended up playing them again in a very exciting final with both teams taking the lead at different stages, but St Bede’s came out on top winning 6 to 5. Outstanding players were Jackson Wright and Isaac Hutchinson, the other team members were, Campbell Allison, Rowan Brown, Jamayne Feast-Marshall, Jack Goodin, Oliver Lawry, Riley Lucas, Charlie Morrison, Kyle Peterson, Sam Robb, Charlie Stenberg, Tanner Stowers-Smith, Andre Sula, Maddox Wright and Mr Litten.

A big thank you our awesome coaching team of Leeanne Wright, Harrison Kirk and Mr Litten who managed the team wonderfully well during the day.

ROWING

Rowing Open Day at Stewarts Gully 

  • 10.00am Saturday 29 February - (tomorrow!)

Curious as to what rowing is all about? Come along and find out more about the sport of rowing - talk to the current rowing crew, meet Head Coach Dale Maher and see if this is the sport for you. You will have the opportunity to have a go in a boat with some of our experienced rowers and our Coach.

Parents will be able to chat with committee members and parents of our current crew.

RUGBY

Rugby registration is this Sunday at 11.00am in the main school office. Each player needs to fill out a registration form to trial and register with the NZ Rugby Union. Fees are $130.00 for each player with the 1st XV fees being charged once the team is announced.

If you have any rugby boots you would like to sell, please bring clean boots and details of how you would like payment made.

FOOTBALL

Under 17 Trials this Sunday 1 March at 9.00am. SBC Back Field. Please bring water bottles.

If you are playing Football for St Bede's College on Saturday, you need to register on COMET. There was a small glitch with this which has now been rectified.

1st XI Football

Announcement for 1st XI will be made next week after the coaching appointment is made.
