Mr Justin Boyle —

Greetings from St Bede’s

It is Summer Sports Tournament week, and St Bede's has teams at the Maadi Cup Rowing Regatta at Karapiro, the National Futsal competition in Wellington, and the South Island Water Polo tournament in Christchurch. Last weekend the Touch Team was 4th in the South Island tournament in Christchurch and we had a number of boys placed at the Canterbury Athletics finals on Saturday. We will publish results in future newsletters.

As part of our Lenten programme, we staged a 40 Hour Adoration beginning with a Eucharistic procession after the 5.00pm Mass on Sunday, and finishing with Benediction on Tuesday morning. The traditional practice of the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament was well supported and attended by many of the boys and also members of our wider Bedean community.

Various sports teams, often accompanied by their parents, spent an hour in prayer to help ensure a successful Lenten initiative, endorsing the clear message we received from the Special Character review team that visited last week - Catholic practice is prevalent in the College to help and enliven the faith life of the College.

Until next week,

J. G. Boyle
