Justin Boyle —

Some sun and warmer weather was welcomed this week by all and gave the soaked fields an opportunity to dry out.

We are hopeful that the football and rugby games for all teams can resume tomorrow.

The cultural arm of the school is busy at the moment. During the week, The Senior Drama class entertained a full Performing Arts Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, with their Production of “Bad Auditions by Bad Actors” which you can read about and see photos of later in the newsletter.

Over the last month, I have attended three Old Boys’ meetings, in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch. The ages of those attending ranged from men in their mid-20s, to men in their 80s. It was patently obvious the affection they all held for the place, but the topics of interest are also about what is happening here now, which staff are still here and how are we doing academically, sporting wise and in the arts. Many talked about the opportunities St Bede’s gave them and, in some cases, the opportunities they missed, which is something I Talked about to the boys at assembly. This week, the acceptance and declined letters were sent to families. As you may be aware, we can only accept 160, so many missed out, which is a timely reminder to those who are here, not to waste the opportunities that are given.

Enjoy the weekend and this weather while it lasts.

Until next week
