Last weekend the College’s Senior Debating Team competed in the Canterbury Schools’ Debating (CSDC) Senior Regional Competition.

Making up the team was our Captain, and first speaker, Todd Evans (Y13); our second speaker Thomas Richards (Y11); and third speaker Liam Speechlay (Y11). The team participated in five debates, and with a range of difficult topics, performed incredibly well under pressure, receiving some valued feedback and learning points from the adjudicators. Impressively, Liam and Thomas also had the privilege of being named as members of the CSDC Development Squad, after scouts identified their potential as debaters. A special thanks to Jane Barlin who has supported the team to grow their skills in debating over the last few months in preparation for this event. The team are excited to move into this year’s ‘second phase’ of debating, with regular Thursday debates.
