Weekly Notes

Jon McDowall —

Weekly notes recommence this week.

As part of the Pastoral Evaluation two years ago the parent community asked that staff are honest in their appraisal of their son’s effort, behaviour and engagement each week. Yesterday as part of our Teacher Only day we evaluated Weekly Notes for term one and how they were being applied across the College. In particular the criteria for awarding a student a four. In light of this discussion I have asked staff to raise the bar with their expectations and award grades that reflect the criteria outlined in the attached poster.

This may mean you might see a change to your son’s typical weekly note score from term one. I wish to reiterate that we expect most of our students to be at level 3 each week aspiring for a four. For clarity, to get a four students must meet all of the criteria below:

  • are always prepared to learn, are diligent and self-determining
  • are always being kind, co-operative and tolerant of others in the classroom.
  • Is a role model to others

I am confident our students will continue to work hard to gain the highest possible grades each week. Should you have any further inquiries please do contact me via jmcdowall@stbedes.school.nz
