Season gets underway

A big "thank you" to everyone who helped make today's first U18 rugby trial a success.

Thank you to 1st XV coaches Dan Winchester, Kurt Paterson and Simon Gunn for setting up the teams, to 1st XV manager Dave Litten for managing the flow of players into and out of each "third"; to Merton Tapp for looking after the (70+) jerseys; to Simon Cooper for looking after balls and hydration; to Hans and Lejorben Lutters for providing medical support; to Leanne Wright for assisting on the sideline and providing the selectors with a coffee or cold drink; and selectors Nigel Smith, Kurt Paterson, Ed Sparrow, Sars Flood, Simon Gunn, Darren Wright, Charles Simpson,  "Baz" Dunne, Braydon Johnson, Dom Brankin, Roger Johnston, Brendan Laney, Diarmuid McMahon, Andy Spanton, Kyle Byers and Jackson Wright for ranking players on today's performance. Thank you also to students Hamish Flanagan and Max Albers-White for filming the game, and to the Harris family for transporting the post-pads and flags to and from Ilam Fields. 

St. Bede's Rugby also appreciates the generosity of UCRFC in letting us use their No. 1 ground for this trial. 

U18 trial no. 2 is next Sunday on No. 4 field at St. Bede's. See you there. Practices are on Tuesday and Thursday after school out front on No. 2.
