CCC —

Information and updates.

A month of nightly lane closures on SH1 southbound

Starting tonight for about a month, we will close one traffic lane southbound on SH1, between Tram Road and the Waimakariri Bridge.

We will be installing cables for street lights, traffic signals, telecommunication and power from 6pm to 5.30am every night except Friday and Saturday nights.

There will be a 60km/h speed limit in place during this closure but the Tram Road on-ramp will stay open.

QEII Shared Use Path diversion until end October

The QEII Drive Shared Use Path between Grimseys Road and Main North Road will continue to be diverted down Winters Road until the end of October.

This will allow us to work on part of QEII Drive that is close to the shared use path before sealing the path.

Grimseys Road subway will stay open as usual.

Thank you for your patience while we improve this ped/cycle route.

Cranford Street

Our crew is continuing to build the new kerbs and footpath on the south west (St Albans) side of Cranford Street. Due to this work there is no entry to Cranford Street from Weston Road on the southwest side. From Monday 30 September there will also be no entry to Cranford Street from Knowles Street on the southwest side (This date has changed from our earlier letterbox drop). This work should be completed by 11 October.

In Mid-October we start work on the actual road surface. This means new asphalt and installing the planted central median that will make McFaddens Road, Weston Road and Knowles Streets left in and out only. To do this work we will also need to fully close side streets for a short time. More on this in our next update.

We are also working around the Innes/Cranford intersection replacing kerbs and installing the new traffic signals. This area should be ready for asphalt in November.

Cranford Street Update - mid Sept

Styx River Bridge update

The piling work at the Styx River motorway bridge is done. All ten steel reinforced concrete piles, five on either side of the river have been installed. At the end of September we will start placing the beams over the river.

The separate pedestrian and cycle bridge will get underway soon and needs eight screw piles, four on each side of the river. The deck for this bridge is being build off site and will be placed in late October.

Radcliffe Road Over-bridge update

The central pier and bankseats at Radcliffe Road Overbridge are nearly ready for beams. We will start placing these in mid-October and will need to close one side of Radcliffe Road while we do this. We will use a stop/go set-up to maintain two-way traffic through this area.
