Greetings from St Bede's

Mr Justin Boyle —

The rain is making the start of the term a damp one, and postponements or cancellations of winter sports is probable. The fields are sodden!

We took advantage of a delay in the gym’s renovation and extension to have another assembly, which will be the last one for the rest of the term.

Entirely led by the seniors, this was both entertaining and informative. A humorous piece on the large seagull population by Jake Fearon and Robbie Karsten was entertaining. A strong message about drugs followed the tragic news of the people who died after consuming synthetic marijuana in the North Island was most informative. News items from the New Zealand Herald were replayed. Then Harry Staples and Adam Lyons role played a situation where drugs were offered with a similarly powerful message to finish and imploring all Bedeans not to be tempted to take drugs.

I say often a message well delivered by boys is often more effective than by adults. That was the case yesterday. Congratulations to those service boys for getting a powerful message across to our boys.

Until next time
Justin Boyle
