Help support students in 50km challenge
The Awa Run is an annual 105 km, three-day relay along the Whanganui Awa.
Five Year 10 students and one Year 12, from the nine Marist schools in our network, each run a total of 50km across the three days in 5km stages.
As well as pounding the river road, students learn about Te Ao Māori, social justice, and leadership. This event aims to raise money to support students from remote communities attend school within the National Network of Marist Schools.
Because they live remotely, without these funds, these students would not have the same opportunity to receive a quality education. We have students at St Bede's that are here through this support.
Our team members for 2024 are, from left, Daniel Milicich Year 12, and in Year 10 Jim Foley, James Grant, Cooper Titterton Leckie, Findlay Gibson and Alex Walters. They will complete fundraising as a team and also have the opportunity to seek individual sponsorship for each of the kilometres they run.
These boys have put themselves forward to represent everyone at St Bede's and we would love you to get behind them. You can support these students and our school efforts in any of the following ways.
Non-Uniform Day on Thursday, 17 October, and sausage sizzles on Fridays of Weeks I and 2.
You could jump on to our Give a Little page or donate an amount directly through school with some sponsorship to go on our t-shirts. The boys will also run a car wash once the seniors have left, as well as bake sales and raffles at masses.
