Social Science

Mr Nick Ryan —

Market day and our 'Blog'

With the senior students out on exam leave, the focus of the Social Science Faculty has shifted towards the Junior School. This has meant our staff have been able to use the extra time to plan some exciting learning experiences for their Social Studies courses.

The Year 10 Economics students are preparing for their annual Market Day with students eagerly working towards their small enterprise project.

Aaron Cutbush came in and spoke to the Year 10 Social Studies students this afternoon about his time in the United Nations as a security expert. This gave the students a unique opportunity to ask questions relevant to their current Human Rights topic.

The Year 10 Social Studies students are also preparing for an end of year field trip. The boys will use their knowledge on human rights and the Holocaust to conduct a critical viewing of Taika Waititi's new film "Jojo Rabbit", the story of young boy growing up under the indoctrination of the Hitler Youth in Nazi Germany.

Check out this weeks blog to discover more about the interesting learning experiences we have planned for the rest of the year.
