1959ers 1st XV reunite at rugby
Despite the rather abysmal wintery weather, members of our 1959 1st XV enjoyed coming together to watch SBC beat St Andrews in a home turf rugby cliffhanger on 17 June.
As Jon McDowall mentioned in his Rector's Report earlier in our newsletter, he enjoyed hosting members of our 1959 1st XV at school when St Bede's took on old rugby rivals St Andrew's earlier this month.
The current 1st XV were playing for the Wylie-Earl Shield, named after All Blacks and old boy Andy Earl (1977-1978) and Alex Wylie (STAC).
Along with watching the game, which ended a 40 to 41 win to St Bedes, the group enjoyed a tour of the College, having lunch together, and catching up with current players at their post match function in the dining hall.
"The reunion was considered a resounding success and we were blown away by the hospitality and consideration shown to us by Rector John" said Mick Hanham (1956-1959).
St Bede's College Rugby are so grateful for the support they receive from our old boys' community and always love seeing our members out in force at game time.
