Summer Tournament Roundup
Water Polo
Congratulations to St Bede's Senior Waterpolo Squad in achieving third place in the South Island Secondary Schools Tournament Championship.
St. Bede's emerged second after pool play and went on to beat John McGlashan College in the quarterfinals which ended in a tense penalty shoot out. Our shooters all hitting target and George our goalie, making two outstanding saves, the final attempt by JMC hitting the post resulting in St. Bede's meeting Christ's College in the semi-final. A place in the final was not to be but the squad beat Christchurch Boys High coming third place overall.
Goalie George Methven was named in the tournament team as tournament team goalie.
A big thank you to Jackson Olds who coached the team and Susan Crosbie who did a wonderful job managing the team.

Futsal
The Senior A team have played well at the National Secondary Schools Futsal Championships in Wellington and have had some good wins which will see them finish within the top 15 schools, which is a great effort as they had a few injures before the tournament started. Thanks you to Mr Foley and Mr Wooding for taking this team to Wellington.

The school team took part in a local tournament during the week where had a few tough games which saw them finish in 3rd place for the tournament. Thanks to Miss Lynn and Miss Rowland for taking the team.
Bowls
Congratulations to Harrison Tyson who played in the South Island Secondary Schools Bowls Championships held in Christchurch during the week. Harrison won the singles title for Division 2 which is a great achievement as Harrison only started playing bowls this term.
Colts Cricket
The team had a steep learning curve the first day of the tournament when they came up against Hamilton Boy’s High School, but played really well against Auckland Grammar School the next day and were unlucky to lose by 17 runs. The game of the week was against Wellington College which them score 174 runs which we chased down in the 39th over to win, James McSweeney scored 54, Matt Boyle 36 and Sam Kreft 30. The games against King’s High School was
abandoned due to rain yesterday and unfortunately they lost their way today against New Plymouth Boys’ High School who went on to be out-right winners of the tournament.
A big thank you to Danny Johansen and Ben McCord who helped out all week and I know the boys appreciate all their help.
The Cricket Club would like to thank Kaye Caddick for her sponsorship of gear for the Colts team to wear in Palmerston North.
