Life as an International Student

Karen Staples —

We're delighted to share the latest updates and highlights from our international student community.

Celebrating our 2024 International Student Leader

Congratulations goes to our new International Student Leader Perry Lau! Your kindness and willingness to help our new international students and dedication to the leadership role has been admirable.

Boarders' Family Mass – Sunday, 25 February

A special boarders' mass was held, bringing together boarders and their families for a time of reflection and unity. It was wonderful to see many students and two of our ESOL learners read a liturgy in the chapel. The boarders' mass aims to strengthen bonds between boarders and their families, caregivers, and for the international community their local agents, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all. We look forward to seeing you at the next boarders' family mass in Term 2.

Bedean Choir Rehearsal Camp

Our talented choir members Ken Wang and Shun Takezawa recently participated in a rejuvenating rehearsal camp at Living Springs. The boys spent one night away, immersing themselves in music and enhancing their skills while fostering a deep sense of camaraderie. Such experiences not only nurture their musical talents, but also strengthen the bonds within our choir community.

School Athletics

Our international students actively participated in various events at our athletics day, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship on the field. A special mention goes to Rio, who competed in the senior relay event, demonstrating determination and athletic prowess. Congratulations to all our athletes for their participation and sportsmanship!

Service Day

For most of our international students who are boarders, Service Day was about engaging in meaningful service activities, contributing to the community, and learning the value of giving back. Three of our international students in homestays demonstrated exceptional kindness and gratitude by supporting their homestay families. They helped around their homes, showcasing not only their helpfulness but also their commitment to fostering strong relationships within our community. Their actions exemplify the values we cherish at St Bede’s College, and we commend them for their thoughtfulness.
