McCaw, Carter inspire future leaders

Reuben Spicer —

Twenty Year 12 students were lucky to attend the Westpac iSport Leadership Day where some of the country's most influential leaders shared their experiences.

Founded by the great Richie McCaw and Daniel Carter, the iSport Foundation aims to provide youth with leadership experiences that will help them grow and develop their leadership potential.

The Leadership Day was hosted at the Christchurch Town Hall with more than 600 students from across Canterbury and Otago.

The students heard from some of New Zealand’s greatest athletes and influentials such as Richie McCaw, Daniel Carter, Dame Sophie Pascoe, Dame Valarie Adams, Arihia Bennett (CEO of Ngai Tahu) and Moses Mackay. Key messages throughout the day were targeted around developing key character strengths, respect, responsibility and resilience.

This annual event gives our students an opportunity to hear from the best in their field around leadership. It is their challenge now to harness the information and use this to form their own leadership styles heading into their final year at the college.
