'Contraflow' Construction

Next week we will start sealing between the north and southbound lanes at either end of the Waimakariri Bridge on SH1. This will allow us to move all traffic onto one side of the bridge (one lane in each direction) to accommodate a 'contraflow' traffic management set-up. This setup will be used off peak to place new bridge beams.

Chaneys Off-Ramp Closure

From Thursday for the next 6-7 weekdays 11am to 9pm the Chaneys/Empire Road off-ramp will be closed. The suggested detour is via Main North Road and Prestons Road as this route includes a safer signalised right turn onto Marshland Road.
