U15 Red & 3rd XV (pre-season "friendlies")

U15 Red vs CBHS U15 "A" at CBHS

Yesterday provided a cracker of a morning for running rugby. It was played as a game of four quarters, not two halves as the cliché.

CBHS dominated at the start with long passages of play, putting us under huge amounts of stress with quick ball being moved wide to their fast wingers. We were on the backfoot defending for most of the first 20 minutes. A yellow-card for a tip tackle dented our defense, but to our boys' credit, in the second 20 minutes we started to put some phases together. Unfortunately, after a couple of wayward passes when hard on attack, we were immediately back defending again in our own 30-meter zone.

In the last 20 minute spell our boys kept their composure and never gave up or became negative, which is a huge positive moving forward.

In summary – CBHS played extremely well, playing with great width and scoring many tries as a result. We had our moments with some good passages of play.

It was fair to say CBHS were the better team on the day. We knew this would be a difficult challenge knowing that they are a team that has been together with previous success.

We have a lot of work ahead of us, but there are some very encouraging signs. One huge positive from the management team perspective, is that our boys stayed positive throughout the game.

As a team with growth mindset attitudes – we know that this loss is only going to help focus us to work on our areas of development. We welcome the challenge and look forward to a great season with a team of boys with significant potential.

3rd XV vs CBHS 4th XV

Promising start to the season with boys going down 22 - 41against good quality opposition. The forwards worked well carrying the ball off the breakdowns, and the ball was quickly moved wide to good effect. It looks like there will be a good season ahead.
