The Haizys make rock band history
St Bede’s College achieved their best result ever when The Haizys came second in the Canterbury Regional Rockquest finals on Saturday, 8 June. The event at the Ngaio Marsh Theatre came after the heats, two weeks before, where 16 bands from around Canterbury were selected for the regional finals.
The Haizys (Kade Burroughs, Antonio Rodrigues, Conor Campbell-Scott, Liam Hulme, and Isaiah Pridmore) are Year 12 students who have been playing together for four years. They performed original song Hindsight in the heats, and had two weeks to write and rehearse another song, Intertwined, which they performed at the finals.

Over the next three weeks, the Haizys will prepare a video recording of three original songs which will be sent away for evaluation. The bands selected for the national finals will be announced in July.
We also would like to give a big congratulations to Year 10 student, Chris Ko, and Year 9 band, The BackBeats, who performed well in the heats in May. There’s more great talent coming through.
