Mr Bill Hooper —

Interviews and Upcoming Presentations

Faculty of Further Education and Learning.

Nearly 200 senior students have had a careers interview over term one and this will continue if a student makes his appointment with me. There are various career events that take place during the year and unfortunately it is not possible to attend them all, especially when they are in school time and can impact on student learning.

Various tertiary providers have open days or information evenings that are ideal for parents and their sons to attend particularly if out of town accommodation is required next year.

Last term we had liaison visits by UC, Otago, Lincoln, Victoria and Auckland universities and these institutions visit later in the year to assist student course planning.

In July students need to put in applications for Halls of Residence; this is completed on line.

This week five students completed an introduction to welding course run through SIT. Later in the term students will be on the following courses- forklift certification, barista, scuba diving, gas and mig welding, advanced customer service and safety in heights.
