11:00am to 1:00pm 21 February in the PAC

On Sunday 21 February, Rugby will hold its annual trials registration event in the Atrium area of the Performing Arts Centre. This is a separate process to the New Zealand Rugby Union "Sporty" online player registration, which can be carried out through the following link: https://www.sporty.co.nz/viewform/143351

Both are required in order to play rugby at St. Bede's College.

The trials registration event also offers an opportunity to pay the 2021 season subs ($150). Parents of boarders can of course pay these to the same College account to which other fees etc. are paid. Please make the payment as a distinct $150 and tag it as being for "Rugby Subs." We request that subs be paid in the next month, so by Friday 19 March. Payment of subs is a prerequisite for appearing in a team for the various trials that will occur in the first two weeks of April.  

If any boys are interested in being the central figures in a 4th XV, they should register like any other player, circling 4th XV on the registration form. Decisions on the viability of a 4th XV this season can only be made on the basis of the number of boys who have given us forms. A capable parent is also required to act as manager for this team. 

The choice of grades is as follows:

U55kgs (U14)

U14 Open-weight

U15 Open-weight

U65kgs (U16)

U17 Open-weight

U75kgs (U18)

U18 Open-weight (3rd, 2nd and 1st XV)

If we don't have enough boys to field a team in a certain weight-restricted grade, those boys will need to be absorbed in teams in other grades in which they qualify to play.
