FOOTBALL

All Football is cancelled this weekend – please see note below

Senior leaders from Canterbury Rugby Union, Canterbury Rugby League and Mainland Football have been working with Christchurch City Council staff on plans for minimising play on the fields because of their sodden condition.

“Due to the significant rainfall since the beginning of the year the fields are already saturated so it is going to be a very challenging season,’’ says Christchurch City Council Head of Parks Andrew Rutledge.

“We made the decision last week to limit play on the fields and unfortunately we need to do the same again this weekend.’’
