We’d like to invite you, your students, their parents and family/whānau to Open Day 2021.

First up we offer Open Day Online, Tuesday 29 June, 6–9pm.This one-night event will be especially useful for those who can’t make it in person on 28 August, and for those who wish to explore their options before their on-campus visit. There’s nothing like being here – so we’d also love to meet you in person at Open Day On Campus, Saturday 28 August, 9am–3.30pm.

Whether your students know exactly what they want to study, or are yet to decide, our Open Day is their chance to explore study options and career opportunities. They can meet and talk with our staff and current students. And most importantly they’ll be able to experience what it’s like to be a student on campus.

We encourage you and your students to register now for updates in the lead-up to Open Day.

We look forward to welcoming you all to our City Campus.

Bind the lashings of a waka together so that it is strong.

This Ngāi Tahu whakataukī speaks to the importance of strengthening the lashings of a waka before embarking on a voyage to ensure the vessel remains buoyant, safe and strong in its journey. Our programme provides taiohi Māori with the opportunity to strengthen connections, relationships and understandings of the many pathways in tertiary education available before they embark on a potential new journey of learning at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha.

Whakawhanaungatanga is a valued part of our Aukaha Tau 12 programme. Taiohi will meet and share kai with other taiohi Māori, kaimahi and Tuākana (senior Māori students) and learn more about ākonga experiences and life on campus.

Selection of applicants who have met these criteria will be based on academic merit. Final admission is subject to the fulfilment of the University’s entrance requirements and confirmation of satisfactory NCEA Level 3 results (or equivalent).

Notes:
(i) Although not required, study of Biology to at least NCEA Level 2 would be an advantage.
(ii) Applicants who have not yet completed NCEA Level 3 (or equivalent) are initially considered on the basis of their NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) performance in subjects taken for NCEA Level 3 (or equivalent). Applicants must have completed (or be completing) NCEA Level 3 (or equivalent) subjects within the last five years.
