MARLOROUBH BOYS’ COLLEGE EXCHANGE

A reminder that all students taking part in the MBC exchange must be at school this Monday at 7.15am as we have to travel to Blenheim via Lewis Pass.

Estimated time of arrival home on Tuesday is 7.30 to 8.00pm but boys will be in touch once we are closer to St Bede's College.

CLIMBING

A huge congratulations to Jake Townshend who has attended two national climbing competitions this year, each one is a two day event. Jake came first in his age group in Rotorua, third in the men’s open grade, and second in the Auckland competition. These placings and points allowed Jake to win the National Lead Climbing Series for Youth A grade which is Under 18.

Jake has put a huge amount of effort into gaining these placing and we wish him all the very best for his next competitions.

SQUASH NATIONALS

Good luck to George Webster, Cameron Williams, Charles Allen, Gus Knutson, Wil Pattinson and Henri Webster who are taking part in the Squash National in Palmerston North this weekend and a big thank you to Mr Merrett for taking the boys.

JUDO

Congratulations to Bram Lutters who competed at the National Judo Championships in the Senior Boys 66kg category and won silver and had some amazing fights to achieve this result.

INDOOR CRICKET

Congratulations to Jackson Hemingway who was one of 10 players selected for the New Zealand Under 17 Indoor Cricket Team, he was also a member of the Canterbury Under 17 Team which won the Nationals. Jackson has been selected for the Canterbury Under 22 Men’s Team which plays in Auckland this weekend.

Brodie Hemingway has been selected in the New Zealand Under 13 Team.

We wish them both for their up and coming tournaments.

SMALLBORE SHOOTING

Sam Kershaw, Old Boy, has been selected in the New Zealand Under 21 Rifle Team for the World Long Range Championships in Wellington starting in January next year. Sam been named as Vice Captain of the team and we wish him all the very best.

ATHLETICS

Congratulations to John Gerber, Luke deRoo, Nicolo Frondo, Samuel deRoo, Cameron Mantell ,James Coates and Jimmy Hastings who have all competed for Canterbury Athletics in Australia in the Down Under Championships.

Under 18

John Gerber won 400m, 3rd in the 100m.

Luke deRoo made the semi finals in the 100, 200 and 400m.

Nicolo made semi finals 100m and 200m was placed 11th in 300m hurdles.

John, Luke and Nicolo won the 4x100m relay and were 2nd in the 4x400m relay.

Under 16

100m Samuel deRoo was placed 11th and 7th in 200m and 7th in 200m hurdles.

Samuel was part of the Canterbury team that came 2nd in the 4x400m relay.

This was a great effort by the boys as the championship was dominated by the United States.

CROSS COUNTRY

Congratulations to Andres Hernandez who has been selected in the New Zealand Secondary School Athletic’s Cross-country team to travel to Australia’s Gold Coast to compete in a Trans Tasman challenge.

SOFTBALL

Congratulations to Harrison Bruhns-Croy, Finn Mounty and Liam Potts who have been selected in the final Under 15 Developing Sox Team to represent NZ in the U17 Queensland State Championship Tournament in September this year.

TAEKWONDO

Congratulations to Jacob Moylan who as bee selected in the 2018 Presidents Cup and Oceania Championships to be held in Papeete, Tahiti.

Jacob will be competing in the Junior Male 73 kg division and we wish him all the very best for this tournament.

BASKETBALL

Friday night Basketball continues this week please remember that there must be an adult on the bench with each team, and boys must be in the correct singlet and PE shorts. If seniors do not have PE shorts, then they must wear plain black shorts. 

Don’t let them forget their mouthgurard, as without that they may not be able to play.

RUGBY CLUB DAY

Thanks you to all those parents that helped make our Rugby Club - Club Day so successful, it was great to see all our teams play at College with excellent results. The weather played it’s part with the grounds looking stunning.
