Academic excellence celebrated at awards night

On Monday, 4 March, two St Bede’s Year 13 students were recognised for their achievements at the Academic Awards Night for top NCEA academic achievers from ethnic backgrounds, hosted at Shirley Boys’ High School.

Tyler Mawhinney gained a Level 2 excellence endorsement in 2022, being one of the St Bede’s students pursuing an accelerated pathway. He completed Level 3 calculus in 2022 and studied the University Level Math 199 course at the University of Canterbury in 2023. Marik Ancheta gained 80 excellence credits at Level 2 in 2023 with excellence endorsements in Music, Art Painting and Religious Education. Both students are intending to move onto university in 2024.
