Senior Touch Rugby

David Litten —

Our senior Touch Rugby team recently competed in the South Island Secondary Schools’ Tournament.

The competition was held over two days at the Belfast Rugby Club. The team played three games on the Saturday and did well enough to qualify for a semi-final game the following day. Unfortunately we lost that game to a strong John McGlashan College team. That put us into the playoff for third and fourth. This game against King’s High School was close with our boys losing 6-5. While it was disappointing not to kick on and do better on the finals day, we still took comfort from the fact that this was the best result a St Bede’s Touch team has achieved in over a decade. There was definitely enough potential on display for the team to plan to go to the National Champs in December.

The boys were excellent ambassadors for their School.

The team members were Campbell Allison, Charlie Morrison, Maddox Wright, Ben Shipley, Jamayne Feast-Marshall, Tanner Stowers-Smith, Roan Brown, Jackson Wright (Captain), Isaac Hutchinson, Oliver Lawry, Alex Schupbach, Riley Lucas, Christian Ioane, LaDanian Davis, Charlie Stenburg and Jack Goodin. The coaches were Harrison Kirk & Leanne Wright
