SPORTS ROUND UP

Hockey 1st XI had a really good game against Christchurch Boys’ High in their semi final game, winning 1 - 0, which now sets them up in the final tonight against Timaru Boys’ High School at 6.30pm at Nga Puni Wai. They need all the support they can get for the game tonight so it would be great if you can make it down to the turf to cheer them on. This is the first time we have been in the final since 2014.

If you cannot make it to Hockey final tonight ‘WE are CANTERBURY” are live streaming – the link is below.

Football 1st XI had another very exciting game against Lincoln High School on Wednesday at English Park. They had about five chances in the first half which got the crowd engaged, but they could not finish it off. Then a plenty shootout occurred which was really exciting with both teams getting to 6 goals each and then we slotted one to make it 7 to 6, with Lincoln missing their next goal.

Congratulations to a well fought win which sees them win the plate final and come 5th in the Mainland Premier 1st XI competition.

Rugby 1st XV unfortunately Christchurch Boys’ High School were too strong for us coming away with a 42 to 30 loss, but they have done really well this season and played a very brave semi-final.

A big thank you to all those parents / caregivers that have helped out with sport over the last two terms. Without your valuable assistance and support the College would not be able to put 55 teams out on the sports fields each week.

RUGBY

A big thank you to all parents that helped out during this season in the various roles that were required. We had an increase in teams this year and without your help we would not of been able to put that many on the field each week. My highlight of the season was watching the two U58kg teams play each other. They were so brave out there and just a pleasure to watch.

If you have a spare few minutes we would love you to fill out a Rugby Survey, so we can improve our delivery of organising a good programme in the coming years.

GOLF

Congratulations to Sam Sandford who has been selected to play in the New Zealand Under 19 Championships in Cromwell during Winter Tournament week. Sam's handicap is a very impressive 3.4 and plays at the Russley club.

We wish Sam all the very best for the Championship.
