Lee breaks South Island backstroke records

Year 9 swimmer Jayden Lee takes four medals and three titles

Jayden Lee (Year 9, Waitaha Swim Club) participated in the South Island Short Course Swimming Championships at Selwyn Aquatic Centre from July 5-7.

Jayden won three gold medals and a bronze medal, taking out the 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, and 200m Backstroke in the 13-14 age group He placed third in the 100m Individual Medley.

In addition, he achieved South Island New Records in the three races for Backstroke.

Men's 13 Years 50m Backstroke

  • 28.76 (previously 30.03 in 2022)

Men's 13 Years 100m Backstroke 

  • 1:01.94 (previously 1:03.90 in 2014)

Men's 13 Years 200m Backstroke 

  • 2:19.38 (previously 2:19.49 in 2013)
