From Monday 4 December - Friday 8 December Yr 10 boys will be participating in a range of activities.
These will be led by both staff and outside providers, the aim is to provide them with an holistic experience while being challenged both mentally and physically.
On offer are a range of different activities, locations and duration from 3-5 days, and students will be able to select their preference based on the degree of challenge, location and price.
Proposed options:
- Abel Tasman – Mon-Fri, walk the track plus 1 day sea kayaking (30 students). Cost est. $360.00.
- Queen Charlotte Walkway – Mon-Fri, walk track, includes 1 day sea kayaking (40 students). Cost est. $320.00.
- Sailing Queen Charlotte Sound – Sail charter, Mon-Fri, experience the sounds from on the water. Sail and live aboard three 12m yachts for 3 days. (20 students). Cost est $500.00.
- Lake Guyon – 3 days Wed-Fri, tramp in tramp out, 2 nights camping at High Country Lake. Experience great scenery and fish for both rainbow and brown trout. (20-30 students). Cost est $120.00.
- Peel Forest - 3 day adventure based at Peel Forest Outdoor Centre – Wed-Fri, tramp, rafting/river yakking, rock jump, high ropes course. (35-40 students). Cost est. $280.00.
- Mt Cook – 3 day trip based at Mt Cook Village, tramp to Sealy Tarns/Mueller Hut, experience a glacial exploration of Hooker or Tasman Glacier, view night sky from Mt John Observatory Tekapo. (22 students). Cost est. $250.00.
All camps will be a fantastic experience where the boys will need to display motivation, maturity and self-dependency. With a positive attitude the boys will have an enjoyable experience and finish the year on a high.
We understand that this can be an expensive exercise if we ask families to pay in one payment.
Early next term, an outline of each option will be sent home with an itinerary and the cost. Students will then be shown a presentation on each camp option. The boys will then rank their options based on this information. Most options have maximum numbers. Please understand that not all students will get their first choice.
Camp Fees:
The Year 10 Camp deposit of $120.00 has been applied to your son’s account with the balance of the charge yet to be applied in Term 4 2017.
It is important that the entirety of the camp charges are paid prior to commencement of the camp in December.
