Mr Justin Boyle —

Greetings from St Bede’s College.

Today we end the term, with Conference Day for Junior students, where I hope the conversations between staff, students and parents are useful to progress the learning of the student. We will begin Term 2 with a similar day for our Seniors and their parents.

The last act as a full school yesterday, was a re-enactment of the Passion of Christ, performed by the Year 12 Drama class. It was a simple, powerful dramatization of this significant part of the Easter story.

Also this week, on Wednesday, the College hosted a parents evening where Attitude, (the youth education division of Parenting Place) presented ‘Hardwired’, which offered valuable information about drugs and alcohol, young people and decision making. Yesterday, they presented to our Y9-12 students, focusing on building a positive life through meeting needs healthily and managing risks. The presentation covered a range of subjects regarding technology, drugs and alcohol, sexuality and relationships. Hopefully both our parent community and the boys found these presentations useful.

Last weekend, St Bede’s College was placed second in the annual Bishop Lyons Shield Competition, hosted by Catholic Cathedral College, who were also victorious – their first time. Congratulations to Catholic Cathedral College, not only for winning the Shield, but for their spectacular hospitality.

Until next term!
