2019 International Rugby Programme

Mr Mark Ealey —

Starts on Monday 25 March 2019.

There is now just one month to go until the 17th intake of the International Rugby Programme begins.  This year 12 boys and 5 girls from Japan, Argentina, Italy, UAE, and Chile  will start the IRP, with others from Japan, Uganda, Mongolia and Argentina joining part way through. The boys will be spread through senior school teams according to their ability (only two foreigners can be registered per season in the 1st XV). The girls will play for a new composite team called the "Wildcats" with local girls from schools including Marian College and Rangi Ruru.

In the two-week April and July holidays the IRP boys need to go into homestays.  Taking a foreign boy who plays our national sport into your home for a fortnight is a great way to make a connection with the outside world through rugby.  Anyone who is keen please contact Mark Ealey by email on mealey@stbedes.school.nz or by mobile on 027-699-8093. (See attached flyer for further details)

St Bede's College now has an IRP old boy playing for Wales in the Six Nations Championship. Josh Navidi (flanker) was man-of-the-match against Italy last week and  played a significant role in the Welsh victory against England in Cardiff this morning.

Mark Ocwich, a former 1st XV prop from Uganda has sent us a video (link attached) wishing St. Bede's well for the 2019 rugby season.
