Basketball

Kelvin Fisher —

After several weeks of trials during some testing times, this week we have named our sides for the upcoming 2022 season in the Canterbury Basketball competition.

Thanks to all the coaches involved across these trials and also to the boys for their commitment and effort during a period where many were impacted by COVID and isolation.

The growth of basketball at St Bede’s is hugely highlighted by the number of teams we will field this year. Just 3 years ago the club fielded 1 U15 side and this year we have a staggering 7 teams competing across this grade.

At U17 level the club moves from 2 teams in 2021 to 3 this season in another extremely positive move for the sport within the College.

The Senior team will compete in the U20 club competition whilst also taking part in the Thomson Trophy on Tuesday nights, the premier High School competition in Canterbury, and amongst the elite school leagues in the country.

Training for most teams will begin shortly with first games on Saturday 30 April.

Good luck to all athletes and coaches for the season – Play hard, play fair and have fun.
